Earlier this month, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) inaugurated a main 132/11 kV 150 MVA GIS Substation at Al Kafafy.
“DEWA continues to implement development projects to raise and upgrade the power capacity of its infrastructure, to keep pace with the high growth of demand for its services, ” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“With a budget of AED 106 million, this project aims to enhance the capacity of DEWA’s power transmission grid to Al Kafaf in Dubai. DEWA has laid an additional 4.5-km of 132 kV underground cables to connect with the main 132/11 kV Substation in Al Hudaiba and the main 400/132 kV Substation at Al Mirkad in the Bu Kadra area.”
The substation project is valued at AED 96 million, while the additional laying of 132KV underground cables was valued at AED 10 million.
“The existing substations in the grid are being developed by increasing capacity and introducing the latest approved world-class technologies. A further 30 132/11 kV substations also currently under construction,” said Al Tayer.
