The WFES closed with much goodwill on the 21 January 2010. With an increase of 25% in attendees, it further strengthened Abu Dhabi as the global centre of promoting and advancing innovation, research and regulation of the future and renewable energy. This position was further enhanced by IRENA’s decision to locate its headquarters in the emirate.
As the curtains descended on the Summit, dignitaries reaffirmed their commitment to promoting a sustainable future. HSH Prince Albert Louis Pierre, Sovereign Prince of Monaco, Marquis of Baux reminded all present that the world is facing one of the greatest challenges in this century. H.E. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of Iceland, said: “The time for lengthy debates and dialogue is over. Now it is action that must bring us together, and that is the mission of Masdar, the World Future Energy Summit and Abu Dhabi.” He hoped that the momentum gained from WFES 2010 would inspire the global community and further their determination to succeed.
